Career Advice: Remember it's a game

This is the hardest post to write, as I have always taken my career very seriously, and acted in line with my values... but there are those out there that come at this from a very different

angle to me - and it doesn't make them bad people.

I've always had the maxims instilled in me of "keep your head down", "do your job", "if you're good at your job, people will tell others". Unfortunately others I have encountered appear to be spurred on by imperatives of "steal", "cheat, "take advantage", "exploit" etc.

Don't waste energy hating on them, remind yourself that it's a game and it's up to you how you play it. If the above offends you... you're probably in the wrong game. The lesson here is to know the rules of the game and how to play it.
